How to read this table
What each column and label means.
| Column | What it shows |

| 1 month | Change in the producer price index from the month before. |
| 12 months | Change from the same month one year earlier. |
| Index | The index level, where the base period of each series equals 100. Compare changes, not levels, across materials. |
| Preliminary | BLS revises the latest months; a preliminary number can change later. |
| What it is not | Producer prices are what manufacturers charge. Your supplier's price also includes freight, stock and margin. |
